DeZign with Z - 3! Happy Birthday....

Okay, here is your assignment: First - check out the birthday kits already in the store, then tell me what is missing!

I'd like to use a color scheme that hasn't been used for birthday - but one that you can definitely use, and I'd like to create kit bits that maybe haven't already been included in birthday kits. So I know that's a tall order, but maybe as you look through them all you'll find something lacking, or remember some element you wanted for a birthday layout that you couldn't find. I'm sure I'll need to add some traditional things, but I'd really like to pop in those bits you wanted but aren't in the store already.

Can we do this? I think it will be fun! I hope you don't mind having the theme assigned already!

I just took all my DD's birthday pics today! She just turned 3, so timing couldn't be better! It may be tomorrow before I have any ideas, but I'll be back!

Oh yeah I'm so excited. I will take a look at the kits. I have an idea but I will check the store first. I know that some people may be looking for birthday kits for a girl; but, can we make it for both boys and girls. My 2 year old sons birthday is coming up and I plan on having loads of pics. He's going to be into opening presents for the first time this year! I'll be back for ideas!

k so I just went through the kits. I definitely have some ideas but first I have to see the color scheme. I'm thinking bright but who knows, you never know where it will go.

Oh I'm so glad you said bright! I tend toward brights with DS Ben. Since that is our personality.

Here's my idea. We did my son's first birthday theme "Sesame Street & Rubber Ducky". My husband loves the sesame street Ernie (I think it was him) who sang the rubber ducky song. Do you remember that? Well, we sing it to our son all the time. I still need to scrap those birthday pictures. The plate is really blurry because of the resolution - sorry. But, you get the gist.

I was also thinking of a chocolate theme? My husband loves chocolate and his birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. But, don't have a color theme for that yet.

Scrappy Momma, I love those colors. And they still go well for girls because they are bright. We just painted my step daughters room that bright green. I love the idea of chocolate theme too. What pictures don't go well with brown.

OK here's the chocolate theme. Makes me hungry just looking at it.

I have a question Z. Is it ok to be posting things that are copyrighted to swatches? Like Hershey's and Sesame street? I don't want to open a can of copyrighted worms but I was just curious, for future reference.

I would think you just credit it in your picture gallery. and those colors for a chocolate theme are great.

OK I see another addiction. Didn't know color swatches were so much fun!

I've been looking around my house for birthday and found this. There might be something in the store already. I don't remember. But, this is what I came up with.

My little one is sick and is now up. So, I will sign off for now. And give someone else a chance to have fun!!!

Here's a swatch from me. The pic is from my younger DD's birthday last year. She turned three and insisted on a Monsters Inc. party. I think the colors would work for a boy or a girl.

I don't think I pulled the colors out quite right this time. I ran it through Kuler and it kept choosing her skin or the floor, so I did it myself. Anyhow, here you go:

It's hard to say that anything is lacking. If anything maybe yellow, green and orange. And there are lots of bright colors so maybe toned down a bit or even grunged up. I think we could use more stickers and doodles. And you know how on birthday cards you always see cute little cartoon animals (kwim?) wishing you a happy day? Like a bear or a turtle or... That could be cute... or not, i don't know.

I agree-- bold, primary colors would be great for a birthday kit! Hmmmm. . . I'll have to go look and see if I can something to make a color swatch from hehe

I'd also like word art that said "old enough to know better!"
