Patch tool in PSCS

W*OW*!!! I tell you, I am just falling in love with PSCS.

This patch tool is the coolest thing. I just cleaned up a 50 year old photo that was blurry, torn, ripped, scratched & stained. Granted, it's not perfect 'cuz I haven't spent a hundred hours on it, but OMG - I cannot believe the improvement. And it was so easy!

Can you believe it?

I bet you all thought I was going to be asking a million questions when you saw this post!

No questions, no problems, no confusion, no dumb spells, no brain spasms, no "duh" moment.

Just a simple smile.

(Emma, can you believe it???)

You ought to try the clone tool and the healing brush. They are also amazing.

OK, I will ask the 'duh' question...what is the patch tool? Is that the healing brush?

Thanks,
Elizabeth

It's under the fly-out menu of the healing brush. It is so incredibly easy. Click on it, then draw your selection around your "yucky" spot until you get marching ants, place your cursor/patch inside the selection and then just drag in any direction you want, until you see the result you want.

I don't even have any idea if this is the correct way to use it. I was just playing around with it one day and found this method.

Why, of course! You've gotten to the point where you know enough to start experimenting, reading tutorials and the Help file. Not that you'll never have another question, but you hit a point where you're not completely lost and able to leisurely learn new stuff and not get as frustrated.

Anyway, I second the awesome patch tool! I don't use it often because I don't do a lot of photo retoucing.

Elane, the Patch Tool is using a little lasso to select an area to replace another area. It feathers or fades the edges so there's not a harsh transition.

I played with it awhile back and replaced my baby's eyes with button from his shirt, it was pretty funny! It made the buttons skin color to match.

I also used it a lot on this layout to blend the background:
