The Card Club June 2011
The Card Club is a new monthly challenge aimed at helping us remember all the important events and celebrations in our busy lives. How many birthdays have you missed because you didn't have a card handy or just hadn't got around to making the card in time? It's not just birthdays that need cards what about anniversaries, thank you cards or a simple "pick me up" for those having trying times? Then of course there are all the other events and holidays that it is harder to forget but just as difficult to get organized for such as Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Valentines and Christmas.
The Card Club will be the place to plan for the month ahead and remind each other what's coming up. We can help each other be organized and pass on tips and tricks for card creation.
THE JUNE CHALLENGE
Think about the cards you need to make to post in JULY
July Celebrations
Anniversaries
Babies
Birthdays
Graduations
Thanks
Weddings
Let me know if there are other occasions where you live that require cards and I will add them to the list.
Your task is simple
1. Create a post listing the cards you need to make for the coming month.
2. As you create each card upload it to The Card Club Gallery and edit your posting adding a link next to each card listed. (You may use any gallery as long as you link in this thread.) If you make hybrid cards upload a photo of the finished product.
Inspiration this month is from MeriBeth and can be found in the 8x8 sketches gallery

Well, I failed last month completely, so I'm going to start again. Here's my list:
June
Father's Day - 2
 *-*
Father's Day * Father's Day
Birthday - 1 Feminine, 1 Belated
 *-*
Sister Birthday * Happy Belated Birthday
July
Anniversary - 1
Happy Anniversary
Birthday - 2 Feminine, 1 Masculine
Happy 40th Birthday
And for good measure, I'd like to make one generic Thinking Of You to keep on hand.
That's A LOT of cards for me. I'll be happy to just get my June ones done!!

I don't have any events in July but I could do with a few Thank You cards in reserve so maybe I'll make some of them.

Lately I've been printing my card front on photo paper (at home) and then adhering it to a card base. I found some really nice inexpensive card envelope sets that I bought a few of. Which reminds me I should look for some more. Depending on my design I sometimes add other bits after - glitter, brads, flowers - whatever leftover bits and pieces I have from my paper scrapping days.

WooHoo!! June is done! And two cards for July. Now just need bithday cards for my mom and other sister in July.
As for printing, I also print mine at home on photo paper and then adhere to cardstock, so I size my canvas at 4 x 5.25 so I have a 1/4 inch border of cardstock showing. Sometimes I add a ribbon at the fold. I keep hanging on to all of my paper scrap supplies (I used to teach classes, so I got TONS of free products) intending to use them like Julia (webfrau) does, but I am always in such a hurry to get them out the door that I just print, paste, and mail!
I really want to try printing separate layers and glueing or pop-dotting them to complete the card, but my mind doesn't think in layers like that, so I never really know where to separate them. Most of the time I do clustering so little pieces hang off onto the BG, making it a pain, if not impossible to cut out. Hmmmmm, maybe one of the designers needs to come out with a couple of hybrid card projects!

I did this one with pop dots a few years ago. It was a bit fiddly cutting out the bits.
I printed extra layers of the balloons and the two dinosaurs and stuck them on. The blue dinosaur had his tail in the extra layer so it stuck out the side of the card. It looked pretty good but I don't think I have a photo of the finished card.

Yes, this is what I was talking about, but the desire to do all of that fussy cutting and the time necessary to do it have not yet happened at the same time. Probably not going to happen soon, but I am going to challenge myself to use some of my paper supplies for hybrid cards next month.
(OK, it's in writing now, so I HAVE to do it! )

I used up some of my "letter" size scrapping paper recently to make envelopes. I used the template from Lauren's Flower Card QC - I just added a thin stroke to the envelope shape and then printed it on the back of some of my patterned paper.
I've cut them out and folded them but still have to glue the sides up. Now the intention is to make cards from co-ordinating kits.

WTG Mary Elizabeth.
I don't have time to finish commenting for this month now and won't be able to get the new thread up until Monday. I don't suppose that will really matter too much though.
