Downloaded embellishments not transparent?? (PSP)

Hi!! I'm relatively new to digi scrapping and work with PSP8. When I downloaded some of the freebies and also on my simply digital cds, it doesn't come up transparent. If I click on it instead of dragging and open it, it shows transparent, but if I drag it has a background.

Also, when I write on tags and save them, I do so as a .png. Those aren't coming back transparent either.

HELP THE NEWBIE!!!!

Thanks much! Once I get this bug worked out, I have 5 LOs to finish and then I'll post them!

Here's a tutorial that should help http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com...ntPNG_ep.shtml

At least one of your questions; shows you how to load the transparency with the pNG when opening it

The other is saving a PNG file. Use File>Export>PNG Optimizer. Then in there click the Transparency tab and use Current Image Transparency

Welcome to DSP!!! Let us know if that helps. Glad to have you with us!

The PNG was already clicked on preferences, so I unselected it. The PNG optimizer worked!!

Thank you so much for ending my frustrations!!

Glad that worked. It's so weird about unchecking it, but I say if it's broken don't argue with how to fix it, LOL! My husband is a semi-conductor technician: sometimes he comes home from work and says something was broken, so he just started trying things until something worked, even if he had no idea WHY

I used to make a lot of sometimes transparent and sometimes not PNG files until I learned about the optimizer. Try the JPEG Optimizer too for saving web layouts: awesome!
