Let's Scrap 2012!!!!

Taking pictures and making scrapbook pages to preserve our memories, are a way of life for most of us at DSP! With the beginning of a new year, many of us revisit our goals and desires for things we want to accomplish. What is your scrapping or photography goal for 2012? Do you have more than one? Last year, I did a weekly photo-scrap project around my hometown. I made it my goal to get out every week and take pictures and then scrap a page or two that included journaling about the places around me. I made it most weeks, and it was very satisfying to send my completed pages to be printed into an 80+ page book this week.

This year, I plan to focus on the small towns outside of the big city. I got a taste of the variety of immigrants who settled in our area over the last 200 years and left their mark on this area. I am interested to learn more. I also want to keep up on my project of photographing and scrapping my granddaughters at least once a month.

I have a couple more goals too, but I will save them for later in this thread...for now, I invite you to join me in scrapping 2012. Tell me what your goals are. Maybe you want to work on your heritage book or your child's baby book. Maybe your goal is to keep up better with your family event scrapping for this year. Whether you plan to scrap every day, every week or regularly every month- tell us about it. Post in any gallery you want, but link your layouts here so we can cheer each other on!

I'm going to focus on an Around the Town series like you did. I really enjoyed yours and I think it would give our family something to do on weekends.

I'm in! I'm going to continue my Scrap the Map album and finish the states we've already visited! I think I have 17 of the 34 states so far, something like that, so lots to do! I started strong then tapered off as I got busy then simply got out of the habit.
But I downloaded the rest of the states so I'm ready to go!!! Bring it 2012!

I'm determined to scrap more events so I can send to family spread out through three states and two countries.

I have no trouble at all scrapping layouts, and average about 1 per day. My problem is actually DOING something with the resulting layouts. I need to redirect some of my time into preparing my completed layouts into albums or DVDs or something. It's been a couple of years since I had an album printed, or even printed my pages at home. I never seem to have the time for everything I want to do.

My goal is to scrap the every day things in our lives this year... Once a week, I'm going to photograph something, someone, or event that happens and scrap it... then print them out for our parents/grandparents for Christmas next year! Another goal of mine it to JOURNAL! Sometimes I get so caught up in "prettiness" or "composition" I don't focus on journaling the story of the picture! So, those are my goals, but I'm hoping to update my goals monthly and see where I am with them! Whew! Gonna be a busy year!!

I really like the idea of an around the town album. I also am going to do a self portrait a week and scrap it to record my healthier me I'm working on in 2012.

Im thinking about doing an Icons of Auckland Album - but after just finishing a P52 Im not sure Im ready to commit to another regular once a week type challenge so I shall probably do one on an irregular basis - when I can get out to places I will take photos - and not restrict myself to once a week or a specific number of pages... - who knows I may get more than 52 done ( I doubt it)

I like the year in review idea too.I have done one for two years.I enjoy looking back at them.I have a hard time commiting to the weekly thing.I tried very hard to follow through with it this year.I got a couple months done, but fell behind quickly.I just don't have the scrapping time anymore.Im lucky if I get a few pages done a month.

I've decided on my goal! CarolAnn's new quick click inspired me!

I made a monthly album like this when I used to paper scrap and have always intended to do another, but I never have! So my goal shall be to do one this year with the help of CarolAnn (so I hope you are going to make all 12!). I'm super excited! I just better not forget to write things down!!!

Yippee, Tara- I don't think I wrote about my inspiration for this quick click anywhere, so you might be interested to know that it came from some little Hallmark calendars that my great-grandma used to keep. She would make little notes every day and I have about 25 years worth of them. I love the little view of her daily life that they show. They are a real treasure to me.
I decided to created the quick click for my own use and 'what the heck'...put it in the store just in case someone else wanted to give it a try! I have mine handy on my laptop so I can add little notes or photos easily each day...

Remember everyone: The idea is to pick something that is reasonable for you.....but that maybe moves you toward a goal you have in mind....like a monthly update page of your child, grandchild, travels, etc. so at the end of the year you have a 2012 album ready to go of your year....I think too often, we set goals that are unreasonable for our life and then we just quit when we can't meet them and end up with nothing at all. I am a great starter, but not a great finisher of things....One of my goals for the last three years has been to finish at least some of my projects! Finishing the weekly project this year was a huge accomplishment for me, but I am at a time in my life where I have a day most weeks to devote to the project and without a goal, I tend to waste such days! Next year (2013), I am hoping to have a new grandbaby to watch, which means I may not have that free day each week and my goal might just be a baby album!
All that to say- don't feel discouraged about not meeting the goals.....just choose different ones that fit your life this year!
