I'm still reading, too - I just mostly read scifi, which not too many people here seem to read. Although I did see the Neil Gaiman book - I may read that one this summer.
Tina, I've read all of the Game of Thrones books so far. I thought they were interesting, but they do move SLOWLY. My DH didn't like them at all.
If anyone else is interested in scifi series, I really love the Harry Dresden books by Jim Butcher. Harry's a wizard/private detective in Chicago. They're kind of dark, but the stories are really interesting (and I can't put them down once the story gets going!)
My big summer reading is going to be the Wheel of Time series. Now that the new author is finally going to finish the 14- (or is it 15-) book "trilogy" I'm ready to read them again!

I read sci-fi too. I've added both of these to my "to read" list for the day when I actually can.

I just read all three Hunger Games books. They were recommended to me a couple of years ago, but I didn't get around to it until my 9-y-o decided to read them a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't let him finish them first. Very thought-provoking. Kept me up 'til 3am three nights in a row, so it must have been a pretty decent read.

Lisa, I've heard about the Wheel of Time books before. Never gotten around to reading those though. Good, I take it?
That's my problem w/ the GOT book. I mean, it's interesting, but not exactly fast paced. I'm getting annoyed with it now.
hlmbugle, love, love, love the Hunger Games books. I ate through them in days as well! Can't wait for the movie!

I've been dying to re-read Eragon and pick up Inheritance. I still haven't read that last one. That's my kind of reading. I can't make myself get into Wheel of Time and that 'hard-core' fantasy, that's what my bf likes and I have tried a lot of his books, but somehow they put me to sleep. He has been re-reading Wheel of Time, but he got distracted around book 7 and went to something else for awhile.

I really liked them. It's been years since I read them, because I didn't like waiting so long between books. I don't remember if they were a fast read or not. They are really long!

One of my fluffy books is coming out this week. I'll abandon GOT for that. It's the 3rd book in the "Hex Hall" series.

I just finished reading Still Dawn: The Saga Continues. A fan fiction naturally inspired by the Twilight books. It was surprisingly good once I got so much into it that I ignored the spelling mistakes etc.
It was also my first e-book. I still very much prefer paper books but it was great being able to read on my lunch break without having to bring my book.
If you want to read it you can find it here

All the scifi recommendations are great; I've never really gotten into that genre but I'm always willing to try something new that comes with good recommendations! I still have to work on expanding that part of my classroom library too...I can't just buy books I would have enjoyed as a kid!
My reading has dropped off the past few weeks. I have a ton of books (from the library) on my Nook and sadly, they keep getting returned before I get to them. Oh well...I have been quilting though!

Hey, Tara, are you familiar with the Cressida Cowell How to Train Your Dragon series? I'm reading them to Bo right now and he LOVES them; he'll even read ahead if we aren't making good enough progress for his satisfaction (although it is significantly above his independent reading level) Best part is I love them too!
Ok, that's the second best part. The first best part is snuggling while we read
Might be something to check out for your kids... And anyone else who enjoys lit aimed at that age group (by which I mean you, Tina!)

Haha, thanks!
I didn't realize there was a How to Train Your Dragon series, I love, love, love the cartoon!!
I'm finally making some progress again with Game of Thrones. I'm on page 513 of 700 something.
It's interesting, but still slow.
I've avoided reading my Hex Hall book, because I'm afraid I'll never get back to GoT.

I didn't realize it wsa a series either (How to Train Your Dragon). I will definitely check it out! Thanks for the recommendation.
Tina - I have sad news for you. I finished the 2nd in th GoT series (A Clash of Kings, I think) and it is even slower than the first! I found myself skipping large passages, not caring if I missed the one important tidbit buried amongst extended battle scenes and descriptions. Yeah, I'll probably finish the series, but if you are having a hard time slogging through the 1st, I'm not so sure you'll want to torture yourself with the second. There was so little happening for such a long book and most time seemed to be spent on descriptions instead of characters. Ho hum...

That is not good news.
I don't understand, I have friends who are bonkers for them! My best friend cannot wait for me to get to book 2 because it's so exciting. Whut??
