This month the Spotlight falls on a super talented DSP Member whose passion for journaling shines through her gallery layouts. A DET 12 and 12 Alumni, Renee will be no stranger to you – I am sure you will even have a good number of her layouts earmarked for scraplifting already!
“When I look at a LO, I want to know the story behind the pictures, so that is what I do with my pages, tell the story,” said Renee when she did her layout This Little Bench. Her family are her inspiration and scraps so that she can tell her family’s story.
On the Spotlight Webpage Renee says if she was a scrapbook kit element: “I guess I would be a journaling mat. (though I don’t usually use a mat, but type directly onto the paper) I love to journal. I have a strong need to tell a story when I scrap, and I rarely make a page without journaling being involved. I don’t want to look back at our families pictures and say, "Awww...weren’t our kids cute?" I want to know and let others know the story of what was going on when a particular photo was being taken. Our kids need to know their own special story, and journaling, combined with the photos, is a great way to give the whole picture.”
Renee says “I gravitate more towards the paper stye, in my scrapping, though I do enjoy breaking out once in awhile and doing a graphic page, just for the sheer fun and beauty of it. When I’m participating in a challenge, I usually open up my program and pull all the papers and elements I think I will use onto the canvas, and then go looking for appropriate photos.”
