I plan on doing lots of the museums in DC - thinking we will intersperce them with trips elsewhere - too many days of museums in a row for Hannah might make things hard. - I dont need ideas for DC because Kerry will be doing the tour guide thing - but definitely need ideas for elsewhere

I'd say for NYC at least 3 days but even then you won't see everything.

Longwood Gardens is very close to Sandygb's most-of-the-time home! It's got some GORGEOUS gardens as does the entire surrounding area.

Chadds Ford Winery is there, and the Brandywine Battlefield (Revolutionary War era) and also Andrew Wyeth's home.

Also, close to DC, Assateague Island (with the wild horses) and on the way south to Florida, visit colonial Williamsburg, VA.

Okay, not too far from Williamsburg is Norfolk. You can play on the beach and hubby can see all the planes and ships he wants!

Ok well the planes sound good for him - beaches - i must add we arent interested in beaches - we have over 100 here in AUckland so we dont need to leave the country to see them!!- but williamsburg is definitely on the list - and i guess norfolk is too now .
If we fly hawaiian airlines then the drive from dc to orlando will be on the list. - - - if we fly airnz - then we will skip that and do disney in LA

I loved the ride to Florida from my hometown (about 3 hours north of DC) when I was about 12. Call me crazy, it was like a 24 hour drive, but I enjoyed the scenery changes and especially when it changed from groundhogs to ARMADILLOS on the side of the road, LOL.

When my DH and I were in Florida, we got a real kick out of the way people said "purrrrrrddddddyyyy" - as in "it is a real purrrrdddyyy day". We went around saying it all the time to each other.
Of course no one understood us when we spoke to them because we talked too fast and used strange words like queue (instead of "line").

Lauren, you definitely should see Norfolk, Assateague/Chincoteague, and Williamsburg! Before I up and moved to Canada, I had decided that if I had to stay in the south, I would definitely live in coastal Virginia. I absolutely loved it there!
