Newbie Question - Events

How do you get the kits, etc. that are used in the events (like the Pity Party Crop).
I understand that you download them, but is there a charge for these kits or are they freebies?

Mostly they are free -they are often password protected files and you need to attend the chat to get the password. Sometimes you need to participate and create a layout to get the freebie - each event is different but if you attend you will quickly work it out!!!! If you cant attend often the kit is put in the store at a reduced price afterward.
