Digital Artist Trading Cards (datc)
Have you got someone here at DSP you admire or have a friendship with??? Then this is an exciting concept here at DSP...........
What is an Digital Artist Trading Card?
Artist Trading Cards are miniature works of art created in your graphics program - 2½ X 3½ (or an old playing card). They are individual originals or small limited editions - they are miniature works of art. On the back of the card is the artist's signature, date, and the number if the card is part of an edition: 1 of 10 or 1/1000. You may wish to add a personal message. All techniques are allowed.
Once designed upload to the Artist Trading Card Gallery here at DSP and start trading!!! Eg People email you and request to trade a card with your card and you email the card back to them. Print and/or store to have a treasure trove of cards from friends/e-friends all over the world!!!
What are they for?
The idea is that you trade them with other people who produce cards, either at Trading Sessions or wherever you meet another ATC trader in person. It's also done through e-mail, with trading going on between artists in other states and countries. It's sort of like having artsy pen-pals! They are never sold - always traded freely.
Who started this great idea?
The project was initiated in 1997 by Zurich artist M. Vänçi Stirnemann. Since then hundreds of people from all over the world have traded ATCs during Trading Sessions, through e- mail, or by participating in swap groups like this. There's even a list of world-wide Trading Sessions on the original project website: http://www.artist-trading-cards.ch. Maybe you'll find one near you!
What do I do with them once I get them?
Put them in a card collecting album (like baseball cards), make your own mini-book, use as a scrapbook page embellishment, turn into jewelry, tile your bathroom wall, laminate and put on a keychain whatever your heart desires! (For Aussies) I purchased my trading card album from a local newsagency - very inexpensive ($10 for folder and 10 clear leaflets)

I especially like the idea of cards with DSP members photo on them like you both have done. It would be fun to have a gallery of DSP friends with both their usernames and real names (since I can be forgetful about this). I'll put on my thinking cap to do one of myself.

More on DATC
Ok lots of question being asked - all I can say there still are not many doing DATC yet - this is a fairly new concept for digital scrappers so lots of discussions and ideas will be thrown around in the next few days - Please feel free to talk about any ideas you have!!!
Some things to think about - Putting name/date/country/username on card and number your card - keep a log on your pooter where your cards are going!!!
Tonight Lauren Bavin did a trade with me - I emailed her and said Do you wish to do a Digital Artistic Trade with me? While lauren posted her DATC she emailed the printable card to me. I emailed her a trading card back - I am saving a few up to print on one A4 page.
Anything goes - photos/no photos/word art/elements/paper style/graphic style just remember the size!!!!
You may want to create a special series limiting the number of trading cards in a series(using the one kit) - 1/10

I had made mine and put it in my gallery not knowing we now had a thread for it. I have since then moved it into the correct gallery
Here is my try
http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com...6726&nocache=1
I also did notice I had the size off by a half an inch (2 1/2 x 3) but will correct it on the next one (2 1/2 x 3 1/2).

I like the idea of trading photo cards with DSP friends and per Ann Maree's suggestion added my username. I also thought it would be fun to include where we are from because I think the variety of places represented is another interesting thing about DSP.

This sounds like so much fun! Years ago when I was into rubber stamping we used to make these for conventions. I have tons and tons of them from those days.

OK, so let me get this straight--I can be a little slow on the uptake occasionally LOL--this is not just for DSP design team designers, right? This is for all of us?
And the procedure is:
Design and post a Digital Artist Trading Card, featuring our glorious self as the artist.
Start swapping with others whose work/cards we admire. So far, so good?
But I also somehow got the idea that we should each design more than one card--is that correct?
Thanks for any clarification anyone can offer to poor muddled me.

Not sure if this was just for the designers or not, but this sure was FUN!
Here are mine:

EDITED: looks like my question was answered above - that is the problem with writing something and then not entering it right away. LOL!

Just finished mine

As I posted with ATC I am not sure what happened to my settings on PSP but the resolution is off when I resize.
Hopefully I can figure out the problem soon.

Okay, here's my first DATC. I hope I have the right idea.
I'm loving getting to know everybody in this way, what beautiful friends I have!
So, do we make a new one of these any time someone requests a card, or do we send copies of the one we posted, or what?????

ok, i think i am understanding how this is supposed to work (after checking out those cool sites AnnMaree shared).
There are two ways to do this. The first is to make a card and then trade that card with all who ask to trade.
THEN there is the asking someone to trade. You contact a person and say "HEy, wanna trade cards?" They say yes and then you make a card that is specifically for that one person. Post a copy in the gallery, and then email the original to the trader.
You can also create lots of cards and the post them and then whoever claims the trade on that card first gets the original, the others will have to find a different card.
OOOOOooooohhhhhh this is so much FUN!! I think I like the middle way best of all. Personally made for a certain friend in mind. I wish I had realized that. But this one I made will be a limited edition (and Sherri got the first one!).
