Tablet Talk

Hi Everyone, I want a tablet and want to ask for one for Christmas. What do you think, should I go for the Intuos 4X6 or the Graphire 6X8. Do you think I need the capabilities of the Intuos or will I even notice they're not there?

Intuos has a lot of extra capabilities. The Graphire only has pressure control. Intuos reads the angle of the pen, how the nib is twisting, etc. If you're into digital painting at all, the Intuos is better. For basic use, the Graphire is great! That's what I have. Eventually, since I love digi painting so much, I'll get a big Intuos. I need a new car and serger first, tho!

I've used many tablets over many years. I like my $99 Graphire and never used all the fancy stuff on the more expensive tablets.

What's a tablet? Thanks for indulging the newbie question...

Just finished my VERY FIRST layout tonight. Whee!

A tablet can work like a mouse, except that you hold the pen (or stylus) like you would a writing utensil. The advantage is that it should give you enough control to draw and write on-screen and also eases some of the repetitive use that leads to carpal tunnel syndrome.

many people ditch the mouse because of repetitive motion injuries, and use the pen all the time. It's far more ergonomic than a mouse. Not sure if I'll ever get to that point, LOL! Maybe when I start online work fulltime and get carpal tunnel!
