I love the sepia hue she's applied to the photos and the overall dark and serious tone of the layout, yet it's still a fun and cheery one with all the vibrant elements and those smiles creeping in. Thanks, Heather! I know, it's a shocker, another grungy boy layout from me, but what can I say, it's my thing. And this collection is the grungy scrapper's dream. I started out with a completely different idea and photos and things weren't coming together, so I just bagged the whole page and started over. I like this so much better :). The way the sun reflected off the camera lens made this strange lighting effect. Ian and the Giant Bubbles

The wind kept popping the bubbles before I could frame up a decent shot and he was moving so fast, I managed to cut his head (or some other part of his body) off in pretty much every shot. When I saw this kit, I immediately thought of these photos and a layout started to build in my head. Glad I didn't delete the photos! Designer and/or kit name only.): Anyone with preteen/teen boys in their life knows this to be true!:lol: When I saw im Liddiard's [url=http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_18&products_id=11235]Toad-ily Inspired Blend EZ Page Kit[/url] the first thing I thought was how the colors matched the XBox logo and then the whole layout came together. I also used Robyn Gough's [url=http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_86&products_id=11114]Water Color Arsenal Splatter Brushes Vol 2[/url]. The text around the edge is the names of just some of the XBox games we have. It is by no means a complete list!:lol: I did a lot of playing with blend modes. The large BG photo is set to Hard Light blend mode. The smaller photo in the BG of Connor holding the controller is set to Linear Light blend mode with the opacity reduced to 84%. I used the #5 texture as a clipping mask for this photo as well. The XBox logo was extracted from one of the photos.TFL

Designer and/or kit name only.): I was hoping to get this done for Erica's challenge, but it just didn't happen.:( Here's my layout anyway using Erica Belton's [url=http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_18&products_id=10985]Today A Boy Page Kit[/url]. A definite must-have for scrapping those boyish/masculine pages. The chevron element inspired this whole page design. I also used Erica's [url=http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_86&products_id=11032]Daily Inverted Grunge Stamps[/url]. This is my youngest son on his scooter. Journaling reads: During the summer of 2009, Ian had no interest in learning to ride his bike. He only wanted to ride his Batman scooter. 9/7/09 Technique: A Linear Light Blend Mode was applied to all of the photos. On the smaller photos, I also applied an Inner Shadow to give them a grungy edge.

One With Nature

Designer and/or kit name only.): Once I found the photo on my EHD, this took about 20 minutes! Walker Technique: On the photo: I desaturated the photo and increased the contrast on it, then duplicated it so that it was on 2 layers. The bottom layer is set to Normal blend mode and the top set to Linear Burn blend mode (I think) and the opacity reduced to around 50%. I then used the eraser tool with a couple different dry media brushes at varying opacities to erase away most of the photo BG on both photo layers. I erased and played around until I liked the look. Then I just added the overlay and the WA. TFL
