Designer and/or kit name only.): My daughter left two days ago for a study abroad in Sweden. It was very difficult waiting for some kind of communication from her... no cell phone and no internet. Today, out of the blue I get a HELLO photo from her actually IN Stockholm! It was sooooo neat to see her there! I used Lauren's cool TTV overlay stack on this to make it look like a world travel postcard from years gone past. I took down the saturation in her photo to give it just a bit of vintage coloring. Get it off Auto... Week 7, Custom White Balance

I used my gray card for exposure and white balance

I had this horrible photo that was overexposed and the White balance was all wrong and I almost binned it. When i added the lovely kit to it, and changed the photo to a vintage look it came alive and is now one of my favs! I got some Mardi Gras beads and that caught her eye and she watched those. Whew, I was exhausted when I got done LOL! I added the vignette as the color changed drastically as the light fell off. I used my SB800 flash off camera in a small Morris softbox and a window on the right for fill. Settings: ISO 200, f/3.5, 1/125

She was sitting on the porch shelling peanuts with her teeth! I couldn't help but put these in story board format. I loved how her hair was unkempt and it lent itself nicely to the urban black and white. This is printed as a 10x20 and mounted on styrene. The font is from our very own Tina Chambers!!! The wall is fake (seamless pink paper) the wood floor is fake (my piano bench!) and the baseboard is REALLY fake.... I made it in photoshop! I know the crop isn't the best but I couldn't include much more or you'd see the piano bench she was sitting on :) So, there ya go, fake in all it's glory! Tech info: Nikon D200, Nikon 85/1.8 lens, manual exposure 1/100 @ f/6.3, custom white balance converted from RAW to jpg in Nikon Capture 4.

I knew I wanted something high contrast and the light beating in the window was more than my camera could handle! At the lowest ISO and the fastest shutter I was still getting too much light. Then, do I focus on the lid? or the straws? Hmmmm, well, this is what I got. I left it in color but then when I converted I really liked the brown tones and left it.

Just playing around and my DD just turned, laid down and stared at me with the big eyes! Melted my heart so I knew my DH would love it too. TFL Tech Info: Nikon D100 (D200 still in service center!) ISO200, 1/125 @ f/7.1. RAW converted to jpg in Nikon Capture.

Designer and/or kit name only.): I'm just getting into odd size prints and custom framing. My new fav is the long skinny prints. This is one from tonight of my DD. Used my new Nikon D200 on manual 125 f/6.3 with a softlighter camera right and one softbox on a boom overhead and white seamless paper. I changed this to grayscale, then back to RGB mode. Then duplicated the layer, hard light, lowered opacity to taste(77%), Gaussian blur 10, flattened. Dup layer again, hard light, lower opacity to get the blown out look(41%), and USM 80-1-1. I love the hard gritty lines this created. I'm printing this probably 5x20.

Almost three months since then and she began to squeal "Nandy, nandy!" and danced around in hopping circles. It was just too cute! This was taken with my BRAND NEW Nikon D200.. M mode, 1/60 @ f/1.6 with my 50mm/ 1.4 lens in natural light.
