Journaling reads: Our sweet Gali had the longest, silkiest fur you could imagine on a cat. She was beautiful, but as she got older and became afflicted with arthritis, she had a hard time grooming herself. Her long hair would get matted and no matter how we tried to keep her combed, she was uncomfortable. So each spring Gali got a lion cut... and while she always seemed indignant at first (see the expression above) after a while she would start strutting around and preening as if to say, "See me now! I'm all sleek and clean." But it always took a few hours for her to regain her dignity. - May 2007

Visit to NYC

Journaling reads: In March, Dan and I celebrated the end of my treatments with a getaway to NYC. New York is my home away from home, and I love going back to see friends and visit my favorite haunts. I took a trip up to Fort Tryon to the Cloisters, and Dan checked out some museums. One night we had dinner with Kelly and Dan, and by coincidence Debbie was in town for a conference. She met us for drinks along with Hank, her childhood friend who was playing in Spamalot. It was great to be together again and get caught up.

I will come back to this one... it doesn't feel quite finished yet... but I wanted to post it. Journaling reads: Books allow us to open a window on the world and take a step into the unknown, and on their pages we discover characters who live the way we�d like to live. Katie has enjoyed the book �Mirette on the High Wire� about a little girl who conquers her fears and learns to walk in the clouds.

We have a lot of love in our family, and I'm so glad that Katie is growing up feeling the way she looks in this photo, surrounded by joy and love.

A Boy and His Horse

First I have to say that Raphne's original page was NOT drab...! She cropped the photo beautifully and made a fun page with it here: [url=http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=281123&ppuser=124085]Ridin' the Range[/url] For my version I really wanted the sweet expression on Bo's face to be the focus even more, so I took a minimal graphic approach. The photo is so special I wanted it to be center stage. I duplicated the photo, then extracted Bo and the horse from the top copy. Used a motion blur on the bottom copy and desaturated it. Then added two layers from Lauren Bavin's fantastic [url=http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_144_215&products_id=8405]Through the Viewfinder Overlay set[/url], and finished it off with a cute stamp by Erica Belton from the May 2009 [url=http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3_107&products_id=10448]Club Digital.[/url] Raphne, I hope you enjoy this page! New Cat in the House

Journaling reads: I've had cats for many years. Mr. Darcy lived to be 10 and Gali just passed away in April at the old age of 19. I thought we would remain cat-less for a while, as I don't believe in declawing but couldn't bring myself to start over again with a young kitten and its claws tearing through all the furniture. Well... last week I stopped by the vet to pick up Gali's ashes. I had been procrastinating on this errand, but happened to drive past and forced myself to go in. The receptionist let me know they had a cat for adoption. At first I resisted, then she said, "It's a sad case. She's 11 years old and was abandoned by her owner. She's declawed and they just put her outside." When I heard this, I said, "OK, I'll meet her." She was a sweet but timid cat, all black with yellow eyes, just like Darcy and Gali. I left there with the thought that I would call Dan, we would discuss it and decide against having another cat right now. Within 10 minutes Dan and I had talked, he had expressed full support for bringing Mocha home, and I had called the vet back and said we'd take her. A week later, she's getting settled. The first few days she hid under the couch for long stretches, but would come out in the evening for a couple hours of intense affection. She really enjoys being petted and held. She and Katie are getting along famously. Just tonight she ventured upstairs for the first time and has spent the past few hours up here with us. As I type this she's climbing around on the keyboard. I think Mocha is going to be a great addition to our family! Thanks for looking!

At the Clubhouse

I love the textures in this kit. Journaling reads: Grandma and Grandpa had a �clubhouse� or weekend getaway by the Gasconade River near Bourbon, Mo. When we were growing up we would go there for a day or two some weekends. It was just a simple house with brown shingles and I remember there were wagon wheels decorating the front yard. Many years later as adults we went looking for the clubhouse and found it... we knew it by the wagon wheels still in the front yard! Laurie, Pete, Tim, Sharon and Pat. Thanks for looking.
