When I think of green chili, I cannot help but remember my "adopted" grandparents who are long since gone. They spoiled my children with little treats. Grandpa Tony even took them around the property to find bunny rabbits. The loved a little hole in the wall restaurant and we would eat green chili on our burritos. What a delicious memory. Designer and/or kit name only.): Kim and I are focusing on subjects of Gratitude with the FTNF (Fill the Next Frame) in November. http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/forum/showthread.php?p=766020 Kim: I guess what I am grateful for right now is the season my life is in. It is definitely changing. We have had a few losses and it has caused me to look at things differently. We missed going to the pumpkin patch this year due to 2 feet of snow, but we found pretty pumpkins at the local supermarket. What a season... I am grateful for some change and pumpkins represent that time of year when things change for us season-wise and pace-of-life-wise. Janet: I'm grateful for the time change. The fall time change seems to stretch the day and I settle into a more productive pace, it seems. Looking up at the clock, I always feel ahead for the first week which sets a habit quickly. The light shifting to darker evenings sets the mood for the Holidays - I'm ready for twinkle lights!

Designer and/or kit name only.): I'm LOVING the idea of doing a nature journal - easy to do with all the 365 photos I've taken - easy to find something each day to focus on whether I sketch it later or just work with the photos. Also wanted to play with Kim's new Blend-EZ kit - I used one of the black texture layers as a clipping mask, but also duplicated it to blend on top (used soft light with this photo). LOVE how quick and easy it is to get this result!!!!!!! Designer and/or kit name only.): While my husband and I were out wandering, I came across some Wood Nymphs - tiny little delights. Took quite a few photos to capture them and sketch them at a later date. I scanned the page, adjusted levels and then blended it to the background paper using the Multiply setting. What I really enjoyed translating this to digital was the ability to shift some of the words around using the lasso tool. The best of both worlds. Looking at so many of my photos I've taken over the years, I see the theme - Nature Journals. And I've been reading and learning about sketching nature and the traditional pencil/watercolor type of records. But I'm not confident yet in my sketching, though I'll get there, and I'll eventually include them in. So while I keep my handwritten notes, I also want to add some of these to my 3 ring binder. It feels like a really good fit for me. Vacation Days 1 & 2 - Journaling

Designer and/or kit name only.): Found what I hope to be a good format to use to scrap the trip we're on. Ideas started while blogging (http://snowmoon.us/blog) and then translated over to fit in the page. Journaling: June 3 - Mike headed to work in the morning and I worked to finish loading up the motorhome. After getting things mostly read to drive off, I decided to fix biscuits and gravy for dinner that night when we stopped and breakfast the next morning. Mike got home around 4:30 and we were on the road at about 5:15. Not far from the house, we saw a cow elk grazing by the side of the road in the same area where we gathered wood earlier in the year. Nice to see them moving back in more. The dogs rode on the couch opened up flat - both wearing their seatbelts. Taylor happily rode in her fairly new bed. Rhad took a bit to figure out exactly what was happening, but soon settled in next to Taylor. A rather large herd of bison grazed in South Park - out in an open area where they looked so natural there - the ear tags being the only telltale sign they weren't wild. While going through Breckenridge, we noticed yellow "Police Line - Do Not Cross" tape, a small crowd and a 9 news truck. As we came up to the intersection where all of this took place, we saw three officers, one with a dart gun and all looking up in the tree across the street. Had to have been a black bear - not an oddity years back, but now, with Breckenridge the city it has exploded into, now attracts this type of attention. We made it far enough north and began to look for a spot to pull off for the night - found one and called it a night. June 4 - We woke in the morning to a fog burning off. Got ourselves going as soon as we could. I stopped to take a few photos - and while doing so, a local gal was kind enough to stop and ask if we were all right. "Yep, just taking photos, but thank you!" She told us we would find more fog up farther north. Kindness from a stranger made the morning just that much sweeter. We crossed the border early and kept pushing on - loving the geology that makes the trip through wyoming so interesting. As we climbed Togwotee Pass, I began to notice hillsides full of small white flowers. The normal pullouts we rest at were torn up or sat full of equipment to rework that section of the road. When we did find one that would work, we hiked up to take a closer look at those flowers. Spring Beauties. So many of them! I've seen them before, but not in this type of profusion! The willows were all bright oranges and reds - the spring mirror of fall colors. Coming down Togwotee, the Tetons greeted us - always inspiring and leaving us full of awe of how they were born. Amazing mountains like no others. Soon, though, we came to the South Gate of Yellowstone - the Snake River swollen well beyond its banks with the spring runoff. Large springtime waterfalls fall down to the river far below us in the canyon. Arriving at the Upper Geyser Basin, Old Faithful is in full eruption - Such a cordial welcome from an old friend. But we press on and soon find ourselves pulling in and setting up camp on the shore of Hebgen Lake, full of parallel lines not unlike notepaper - lines on which to write the memories of this vacation. Fibromyalgia Lessons

I don't know what it's like to NOT hurt - all the time. We think it started the day I was born. I was an RH baby - which meant I needed three complete blood transfusions within the first 24 hours to save my life. Mom says I cried for 24 hours, then would sleep for 24 hours and then would repeat it again as a baby. I don't know how she made it through! Growing up, I never seemed to have the stamina my sister had. I often felt sick with aches and pains - but doctors never found anything wrong. They labeled me a hypochondriac and I started to second guess myself. That became a bad habit, but also gave me a good shot of humility, and that never goes wasted. After 23 years of never sleeping soundly, a doctor in Summit County finally diagnosed it as Fibromyalgia. At that point they thought it was a sleeping disorder and nothing more. Medication helped me to sleep, and for the first time, I dreampt in full length movies rather than commercials. I felt SO much better. The doctors who labeled me as a hypochondriac later realized themselves that I suffered from this invisible disease, not recognized in earlier days. Just the gift of the validation of diagnosis alone healed any wounds their disbelief caused. People often ask how I managed all those years - to make it through high school, and then college. It's really just a bunch of secret lessons I picked up along the way. Through the years, Fibromyalgia taught me so many good lessons that I honestly am grateful for it, despite the difficulties it sometimes presents. If I walk this life with it, we might as well become friends. Pace Yourself. Yes, you can do anything, but the toll it takes can be harsh, so just pace everything. Be thankful for each step you take & don't think about the ones you can't take today. The mind is an amazing tool - use it. Always keep multiple projects going. That way, one will match the energy level you have at any given time. When you focus on a project, you cannot focus on the aches and pains. Really! Sleep - sound sleep - every night - is a Gift. Do everything possible to support that type of sleep. And, if you can't sleep, just roll with it. Take the time to pray, to think, to imagine possibilities. Exercise - it's the best medication out there. Yes, it hurts at first, but keep working through it. Slow and steady builds stamina the fastest. Not everyone understands - not everyone believes you - that's OK. Simply just do what's right for you.
