Most games were either made of wood like the swings and catapults, or metal covered with wood to give everything an olde-time feel. My dreamer

As most of you know, I have 2 boys, so most of my kits are colored to fit them. These photos were taken when I was about 4, spending Christmas in Chicago - so far from San Antonio, Texas! Journaling: Summers and Christmas in Chicago were some of the best times. No chores (well, a few) and really exciting places to go. I remember Brookfield Zoo (especially the dolphin show), the Hancock building, and the Museums there. One day I would like to take my boys, although I am sure a lot has changed. ( word art ) this joyful child spent alot of summers and a couple of Christmases in Chicago (with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Richie) grew up to have 2 boys of her own is ME! Journaling: doing his homework this has become a very un-fun part of each night. alexander falls into the group of kids that are extremely skilled in some areas (math and reading) and has grade-level ability in others. we knew that would be the case going in to school, and we figured that we could supplement at home for the areas that he is ahead in - what we didn�t count on was alexander himself - he sees ANY work done outside of school as homework and not for him! The paint strip & the stains did it for me - this is one of those kits that will be inspiring no matter what subject you choose - it needs to be in your stash NOW! I�ll catch him in the middle of a meal, or cartoon, just staring off into space. I wonder what goes on in that little mind? "Dog Problems"

Designer and/or kit name only.): For this page, I went with a very simple, graphic, layout since I wanted the focus to be on the journaling. I used Meryl's kit [url=http://store.digitalscrapbookplace.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=8587]Geraniums for sandygb[/url]. The textures of the backgrounds are just awesome and I just love that little bird! It goes almost anywhere :) Journaling: Kaley - such a sweetie. A shelter dog - the best kind. Sam took Ian and went with a friend of mine while she was looking for a dog and helped her & her son pick out Kaley. We already had a dog, didn�t need another. But. we got an unexpected benefit here. Although Kaley isn�t ours, when her owners go out of town, which they do on a regular basis, we get to keep Kaley for the weekend! The boys love it, I love it (Kaley so reminds me of the big dog that we used to have - Lacy) and my friend can relax and enjoy her trip knowing that Kaley is being taken care of. Fast forward to last weekend - Kayley was at our house for a few days. It was Friday night, time for the boys to go to bed and I hear Alexander yell, �Mom, we have dog problems!�, while Ian was giggling. Well, I knew that there couldn�t be blood or broken bones from the giggling, so I was slightly relieved, But dog problems? Kayley didn�t go in the house. Anyway, I looked into Alexanders room, and there was Kayley, a dog who won�t even get on the furniture if I coax her, in the middle of Alexanders� bed, looking rather sheepish. Ian was petting her and giggling up a storm. Alexander thought that the entire situation was hilarious and both boys were content to leave the sleeping arrangements as they were, BOY - DOG - BOY. Journaling: I remember this picture, not from when it was taken, but from its� time in our family album. My grandmother gave us our family album, and included a picture of her and my grandfather fishing on the front page. So, as the years passed and I looked at that album, as most little girls do, I always thought of my grandparents and the many enjoyable summers that I spent with them. Some of my best memories come from my times in Chicago with Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Richie. Maybe grandma planned it this way, but the end result is that she and this picture in particular, have a special place in my heart. Designer and/or kit name only.): The look I wanted to go with here is graphic (although I couldn�t resist turning the corner and adding a shadow on the bottom pic!). I recently printed a book for Ian and realized, kids want pages where they are easily recognizable. They are not really into the kind of page that needs explaining. And I scrap for my kids. So, here is a little of the process that brought me here � first I took two backgrounds � Bleeding Love & Crumpled white and blended them together. For a bit of grunge around the edge, I added a border of the Black Hearts with the center masked out. Then I added a large picture of Ian acting 4 on top � I have noticed large pictures really give a �wow� factor! I set it to hard light blending mode and placed my journaling on top. Using the frame from Ever Thine as a divider, I added a few more pictures, gave them a High Key VP filter � a �glowing� look, and turned my attention to the title. I changed the wording from I love you forever to I want you to be forever 4. I kept the title font the same as the journaling to tie the two together. Last, I added an overlay in the second title font saying Ian at four and reduced its opacity. Journaling: Ian, you can turn one minute of a commercial into an entire movie - complete w/starring role, a GREAT storyline and bit parts. You are positive about the way things turn out, and punctuate it all with �Because it is�. Yesterday, you described some imaginary scene to us & added �Isn�t that funny?� at the end. Daddy & I just looked at each other and said �that�s so 4�. Well, that is where I want you to stay - at least for now. Journaling: Working with pictures of my father not only makes me realize that he was just a child once, like everyone else, but it also makes me wish that I knew him better, that my boys knew their grandfather. Hopes and dreams come with childhood, and I am sure that he had those, too. By the time I knew him, a couple of stints in the Army (Korea and Vietnam) had made dreaming unimportant. I wonder how he would react if he knew that I had children of my own. Could we actually talk? Or would we just get into an argument? Oh well, I�ll never know. Run, don't walk, over to the store and get one. Quick Clicks are so neat - they really let you focus on the extra stuff, type, pictures, elements, etc. and that takes a lot of the work out of a layout. I move my quick clicks around a bit, but the basic design is there and it makes for a much faster, easier page. Journaling: Labor day 2008 - our neigborhood chose to have its back-to-school pool party today (the first one was rained out) This day was even better because it marked the end of the first week - and everyone made it just fine! The party was great - Ian discovered orange soda and chili dogs and Alexander had some nachos (sans cheese). A few new & some old friends showed up, and everyone had a great time. Mom escaped with only a little sunburn on her nose & Alexander proclaimed it �The Best Pool Day EVER�. I guess you can put that title into perspective when you realize that Alexander is only 6! The colors, metal textures, awesome - and lets not forget the ribbons! My idea with this layout was to show an "everyday moment" I try to do that alot of the time, but I really wanted to stop time here. My favorite type of shot is the kind that catches my kids when they don't know that their picture is being taken. So, to give the pic that "stopped time" effect, I took it into VP and applied a Reminiscing filter. Journaling: Yesterday, you went to Michael�s house after school. Since Ian was so bummed out, Daddy let him play with a few of his miniatures and keep some. You discovered the stash this morning.

Ian's Sleeping Habits

The warm colors make it a great addition to any picture. As soon as I saw this kit, I thought of Ian and jaguar, but I didn't have any pictures. Then I found this one that I took of Ian sleeping in the hall. Journaling: Ok, Ian sleeps in the hall. Both of the boys have their own rooms, (with beds) but Ian chooses to sleep ANYWHERE else. Some of his favorite spots to sleep are the living room floor, the top bunk in Alexander�s room, the hallway (as pictured here) or the floor between my bed & dresser. Any place but his room. Last weekend I took the guys over to Omas. They were playing computer and got kind of bored with the free stuff on nickelodeon.com. Rather than cruise all of the other free sites, looking for games & deciding if they were appropriate for my 4 & 6 year old, I showed them this neat �new� game � pinball. It was an instant hit and the boys began to play while I went back to my coffee in the next room. Since they were so wrapped up in the new game, I snuck back in to take a few pictures and play a few rounds of pinball on my own! Journaling: With his brother behind him, Ian racks up some serious points playing pinball on Oma�s computer. Ian is so good at it , Sam & I call him Pinball Wizard. No joking, his scores leave us all in the DUST! Layout notes: I took a picture of the computer screen while the boys were playing pinball and blended in to the orange background from Tangerine Dream. Then I turned the colored dot element to chrome and added a huge ball in the center. I also used dots from my brush to create the dots under wizard and changed them to chrome, added text on a circular path and the title was done. I place my two photos, warped the upper one and added a shadow, placed the acrylic bars and shortened them so I could add the alpha and words. I didn�t think flowers or leaves would work on this page so I didn�t use them, although they definitely have a place in another of my layouts.

I love the swirls that she has in her backgrounds and those rich reds & blacks. Beautiful! There are so many more things that I wanted to write - too many to fit on a 12x12, so I'll have to do some more layouts with the entire Ever . . . series! Journaling: Sam & I have been married for 14 years in August 2008. Fourteen in itself isn�t such a special number, but when I think of what it represents for us, it is just awesome! The first 8 years were BK (Before Kids) and we spent alot of our time traveling. Soon after Alexander was born, I quit my job to stay home. Then we had Ian and staying home was a necessity. Recently, Sam left his job and has been at home with all of us. When I think of the different lifestyle changes, I really am proud that we stuck with it. Didn�t think we could do it! We really have dealt with what life has thrown at us so 14 years is quite an accomplishment. The favorite toys at this age are D&D Miniatures (monsters, dragons, knights) and Monster trucks. What is a mom to do? I don�t remember this being in my toy box! I guess I�ll just try to blend in with the swords, trucks & other little boy stuff. Even though I can never really belong to their play world, I�ll always be their mom!
