West Coast Crop with Kristen

Our challenge was to use the Batik Butterfly freebie backpack by Rene Bross. My son and his wife were just camping and stopped by on their way home with some wonderful photos. I really liked this shot of my DIL looking out over the water but it was very dark and I thought unusable until I tried some filters on it. She is in her 5th month pregnancy so I am sure a camping trip with a 1 yr old and 2 lively dogs was a little tiring and a peaceful moment would have been a welcome break.

*EDITED* I moved the doodle off her face. I had to cut it apart and rotate it a bit to make it fit the new angle but I do like it better now. Thanks for all the great cc.

WOW Mars!!! This is beautifully creative!! I love the torn curve of the paper drawing the eye right to the picture focus and the perfect ratio of the two papers! Lovely job with the dreamy filters! And the doodled butterflies are perfect in size, placement and especially lovely, soft, dreamy color!!!

I'm just not too sure about the doodle cutting across her face...I want to brush it aside ..but that may just be me....LOL. A thought I have is what if you increase the doodle so that her face is more in between two of the lines and the top line runs along the area of her hairline more?
I have NO idea if that would work or mess it up...just one of those have to try it kinda things.

This is a really beautiful layout!!! But then again..I've never seen one of yours that isn't!!!

I admit I waited on somebody else to post first. I too want to push the doodle out of her face. How about try it on the other side so it is on her hair. Other than that I really like it. I am not ready to put stuff on faces yet. I know that it is the new style, but first let me get use to doodles. Now if it were my MIL...I would say cover it up. LOL

I love the look and design of this Mars. I think I would just 'scootch' up the doodle ever so slightly so that the curling part of the the doodles 'tail' curves behind her ear and then just barely comes up and brushes her cheek. (You might need to adjust the first line and maybe the second line of your poem if you do this.) I absolutely love your font choices btw. Lovely work!

Love the colors and I love how you put the doodle right smack dab over your photo!!! That takes guts!!! I agree with the suggestions to move it slightly...but all in all, I think this layout is a bold move and it worked out quite well!!!!

Gorgeous Mars!! What a perfect quote. The doodle makes me really stare at the photo, but it does make me want to move it a bit too. But I really LOVE this LO!!

I don't know if you moved the doodle since the other comments, but I really like it where it is! The photo is so serious and the doodle sort of contrasts with that feeling... anyway... she also looks so young after you applied the filters to her... almost child-like... think you could apply the same filters to my face in real life? lol... LOVE your LO!!

Wow, really love this layout, the way you have used my fonts are exactly as I intended. My name is jules and I am designing digiscrapping stuff myself at artmama.co.nz and I don't have a creative team yet, (if you are interested please let me know as your work is lovely). Anyway, I was wondering if you would mind if I linked to this layout in my small links gallery please?

As a thankyou, I would be happy to send you a coupon for the grand opening of my shop artmama.co.nz/ezypal which I hope to have at the beginning of September.

Thanks so much for your consideration.

Regards
Julianne
