First.... to answer questions from yesterday’s PAD :
Jhaddad59 : Yep Jill, we at least have an area to stand in, but no doors or anything. Luckily they sell adjustable rails to put shower curtains on. But the area is very small, and like I told my sister, you’re not expected to keep the water in the area , the excess water drains out through the open drain on the floor. Magic for cleaning floors, but that’s about all.
DSanchez : Dee, yes, that’s my our hot water tank, to some Geyser. The water is soooo hot, you can quite easily use it to make a cup of coffee I’ve quite often scalded my hand not realising that the tap is set on hot.
Lauri : It’s the only room that’s not green!!!! and it has marble tile all the way to the roof.
Brayn : Yep, those are child locks. DS loves to unpack the cupboards but won’t repack .
Dawn : The floors, walls and counter tops are all marble….. but the cupboard doors are metal. Just lucky I guess that they match. Most places don’t
Onto to today's photo. I'm sure you can see that this is two photo's combined, apologies for the poor alignment . The room is just too small for me to fit it in one photo....
This is the room which I converted into the playroom (duh!!!) for the kids. Because of the extremely high temperatures during summer, its really not possible for the kids to play outside. Like I said on a previous PAD, the highest temp recorded last summer was 51 degrees C (124F). That excludes the humidity levels which are between 85% and 90% in Sohar.
Believe me, it gets extremely hot and very unbearable. As you open the front door the heat hits you straight in the chest, and when the humidity is at its highest, you find it very difficult to breathe. We have aircons in every single room, which during summer are on 24/7. So during summer, the kids are confined to the house, and we have to try and entertain them, hence the indoor playroom.
This would conclude the downstairs rooms, baring a little computer room, which really isn't interesting at all....... Tomorrow we move upstairs.
Hope you like it....
Thanks for looking.

thank you so much for posting these photos with the descriptions ...it is so interesting.... my dh comes over to the computer to hear all about it! lol.... the heat sounds way too much for me to take....in new york it can get pretty humid which i cant stand but temps are usually in the 80's ...a heat wave is 90's... this photo is so colorful and as a retired director of early childhood center i must say that though you are in a different part of the world the toys and things kids like to do are the same no matter where you are... your playroom, like most here look like my school! and i am sure your children really love to use this room

Wow I really love all the photos and the stories. I bet it took some getting used to to live there and follow all the rules. Can you go outside without covering your face?

The playroom looks like a wonderful place to learn and play - even if the children are stuck inside due to the heat. I can't even imagine temperatures of 124 degrees! Are there ever power failures? There must be a lot of stress on the system when everyone is running several airconditioners in their home. You have been so sweet to answer all of our questions so patiently. It's all absolutely facinating!

Oh my, Sandy, that is awfully hot!!!! I cannot imagine how anyone can survive in such temperatures!
Looks like the kids can have a lot of fun inside with their colourful toys! I love the colours in your photo--neat photo mat to match! I'm just fascinated by your descriptions of your home! Looking forward to moving upstairs!

Oh boy I wouldn't be wearing any clothes in that heat!!!! We are currently having an early autumn heat wave - currently (12:16am) the humidity is 94% but the temperature is only 18o celsius and will only get up to about 25o (80oF) during the day. That is a fantastically brightly coloured room for your children, did you make the quilt or is it a floor mat?

Love all the interesting journaling coming along with your great photos. We live in the high desert which has some pretty warm days in summer but nothing near what you get. We are just an hour from the low desert which often reaches 115 to 120 in summer months. AC is a must then. I am always amazed to think many survived with out it before electricity.....

Wow, what a great room for your kids!! And it looks like you have lots of toys to keep them busy! Looks like you brightened it up with some stickers on the wall as well!! I would have loved a room like this for my boys in New Mexico - it didn't get as hot as there, but anything over 100F is hot to me! And luckily we had very low humidity, so the high heat was tolerable, but there were no places to take the kids to play except the pool, or playgrounds early in the AM.
And see, everyone loves the journalling you do - it makes the picture come alive!!
