Thanks for the tip, Lauren. It definitly looks better. but when I saved it from a psd file to jpg it seemed as though it got a little flat looking (the jpg) - maybe its just me though.

Also wondering... when I am going along playing with the layers styles & I decide to do a color overlay its like it takes away my texture that I already applied. How can I change that? I suppose I could always change the color when I am done by adjusting the hue/saturation, but then what's the point of 'Color Overlay'.

Also when I go to do a pattern overlay it changes the color to what ever the pattern is - I guess maybe that's the difference between texture & pattern. I suppose again I could change it in Hue/saturation. Just me thinking out loud...

maybe these questions should have been saved for the forum?

Ok, I just went to the forums & noticed the discussion about 'texture & patterns'. That cleared it up - sorry for the repeat!

The loss of texture when you save to jpg is a common question -
There actually isnt any loss of texture but it does look that way when you flatten it - I think its somethign to do with the way PS renders its images down to screen resolution -= if you do your flattening and check at 100% view you will see there is no change
