I have very few photographs of times spent on vacation. My Dad apparently took some photographs during our summer vacation to Maine in 1952. As a child I remember several distinct facts about that trip. The house we rented didn't have any electricity and the only way to get around for groceries or to "go to a cafe" was to take a small motorized boat.

journaling says something like this:
I remember wonderful vacations we took as a family when I was a child. My favorite place was a remote island where we spent a month. The camp house was lighted by oil lamps and only a box with ice to keep food cold.

During this trip my Dad and my uncle did a lot of bass fishing. We made an emergency trip to the doctor's office to remove a hook from my uncle's skull. He not only hooked his head while casting but he hooked his hat to his head. My Dad teased my uncle mercilessly.

Note: I am the little kid with the very thick glasses and no front teeth, LOL.

Nice pictures and LO Susan, the journaling is really nice. My father in law had a boat almost like that one, brings back memories. Thanks for sharing with us.

Your photos are wonderful. i love the ribbon and how you used it as a title. The journaling on the postcard and suitcase really give it the travel feel. I love the fish story...very unique.

Nicely done... you chose just the right elements to tell your story. And oh my, a fish hook in the skull... !!!! that would be one of those legendary family stories. Good scrapping here.
