This bun was given to my grandmother when she was 3 years old in 1898. In 1753 it was said of the Hot Cross Bun: Whose virtue is, if you Believe What's said. "They will not grow Mouldy Like Common Bread" Now this one which I have scanned in for you to see, is not moldy at all. Five generations of woman have held this bun and it has been in many, many newspapers over the years. Bakers have even phoned to ask who baked it. It was baked in England.

Have you ever heard the song???.........

One a Penny

Two A penny

Hot Cross Buns!

If you have no DAUGHTERS,

pray give them to your sons!

so you see they were mostly given to the girls of the family......so this bun only passes down the female line.

Scanned in the newspaper cuttings and card that came with the bun that Maggie received in 1898.

I also scanned the bun.

Thanks Meryl for the chat last Thursday morning Heritage Chat. .......here is my scanned object (bun) photographs (newspaper cuttings) and journaling.

How wonderful that you have photos of all those people. This is a very difficult subject to scrap, but I think you did a good job of telling the story.
