When I first started this layout I was actually going to scrap a totally different photo. Then I was looking at the blue birds and the song "The White Cliffs of Dover" kept jumping into my head. So I found this photo of my ancestors taken shortly before they came to NZ from Scotland, and I type d the first couple of lines of the song as journalling at the bottom of the page. I knew I had some information about the trip from my grandmother, only to find they left from Southampton - so no White Cliffs of Dover for them. Instead I used the translated lyrics from "Time to Say Goodbye", which fitted equally as well.
Journaling: "Your great grandparents Thomas and Ann, left Aberdeen on a train for Edinburgh with their six children. At Edinburgh, they boarded the ‘Flying Scotsman’ for London. Arriving at Kings Cross - the biggest railway station in the world they had to locate yet another train to take them to Southampton where they went on board their boat the ‘Ionic’. 1924.
Lyrics: "Time to say goodbye, I'll go with you, to countries I never saw and shared with you. Now, yes, I shall experience them, I’ll go with you, On ships across seas"
Laurens kit is perfect for heritage photos, the muted tonings just bring back the days of yesteryear.
