When Laura Lou sent me these photos and the journaling on the right page, I immediately thought of the ABC poster and the layout took shape from there. I went to the "Take Your Daughter" website for the official logo - had to tidy it up a little.
From Laura Lou's gallery I could see that she loves preserving history with her rich, detailed journaling so I found a website with stats on working women from 100 years ago.
JOURNALING READS: One in 14 women worked in 1905; most of them were unmarried or the sole providers of their families. Here's a glance at how they would have taken their daughters to work.
Society Mamas. Women in the upper classes would teach or pay others the teach their daughters how to do decorative stitching, etiquette, a foreign language or floral arranging.
On "Take Your Daughter To Work" day, they would have
stayed at home and shown heir daughters how to confer with servants to plan meals and perhaps a party.
Mothers On the Ranch or Farm. Women worked side by side their husbands on the family farm or ranch, teaching their daughters how to garden, sew, cook, clean and take care of the animals. Their daughters could grow up to be teachers, but would have to quit when they got married.
************
Will Gabriella become a teacher like her mommy and daddy? Only God knows, but not even the sky is the limit because she could be an airline pilot or an astronaut.
She could run her own business, be a nurse, a musician, a technician, an artist, a race car driver, a mechanic, a professional athlete, a clerk, a saleswoman, a politician, a receptionist, a surgeon, an attorney, a hair stylist.
Get the idea?
Gabriella can become whatever she wants to become. The best part is that if she wants to stay home with her child, in today's society motherhood is a noble choice for women. Her only limit is her imagination. She can do whatever she wants!

I love it when people give a gift with only the receiver in mind. This is the perfect example of that kind of giving. Standing ovation!!!

Really wonderful. So much work in this, and I appreciate how you took into account what Mary Lou would like in a LO. Stunning work!

I absolutely LOVE what you did with this!!!! Then and Now! I would have never thought of that. The border above is exactly like the ones in my old classrooms. Carrie and Gabriella are going to absolutely love this as much as I do. I really want the full resolution copies so I can print them up for Gabby's album.
