The photo is a Xerox of an old postcard, and using Lauren's beautiful Creme Anglaise kit is like putting lipstick on a pig, but I just love how it turned out.

This IXL Creamery would be like the local Dairy Queen at the turn of the last century. LOL! My grandfather would have just turned 13 when it opened.

Text reads: A 1930's postcard view of the I.X.L. Creamery, so named by the owner as a play on "I excel". In addition to serving lunch, they bottled milk and sold butter, ice cream, sherbet and cottage cheese.

The I.X.L. Creamery opened in Friedens when Harvey was 13, and though it may not seem like much, it provided a place for the kids to go and provided both full and part time employment opportunities for local residents, including teenagers. Harvey worked for Charlie as a part time surveyor for small jobs around the town, but some of his cousins were known to collect wild teaberry in the woods and boil it down in their mothers' kitchens. They would then sell the syrup to I.X.L. for their signature ice cream flavor: Teaberry.

The kit is Crème Anglaise by Lauren Bavin. I also used a piece from the Travel Mega Kit by DSP Designers(a blank alpha used for the dates).
