I've been wanting to scrap this page for sometime now and I thought Meryl's Notebook was the perfect piece to create the page I wanted.

We've always known Jakey to be a very intelligent, capable child, full of ability to learn all the things other kids do, but in a different way than most. He needs to be taught with a different approach. Technology is that approach and we've also known that for a long time. He thrives and brightens when using a computer and can make a camera do more things than I ever knew it could. He loves gadgets and what he can get out of them. The iPad our family got him for his birthday has been so beneficial to him in that regard and so many others. The school and his teachers and all those involved in his education are wonderful and eager to help find ways to engage him everyday. The school has provided their classrooms with SmartBoards, and Jake's class finally received theirs and he LOVES it! It is a great tool for all students, not just Jacob, and I'm so glad the school system has invested in them and their students. Jacob has never had a desire or liking to use any type of writing impliment and would only do so if made to, so it was such a heartwarming surprise when his teacher sent home screenshots today of his work on the SmartBoard. She said that he independently wrote "Dad", "Mom", "Jacob" and "Zach" with minimal verbal cues.
