I just love the new Urban Grunge Mega Kit and had SO much fun playing with all the wonderful grungy elements that layer so well on those amazing backgrounds! I wanted to scrap a photo I could grunge up a bit and looking through my photos I came across this photo of Nikki and her friend Declan competing as part of a band in their school's Battle of the Bands. Their high school was the artsy one in town with lots of free spirits and lots of kids who had formed bands. This band they called Der Freischutz for reasons no one is really sure of, and they won first place that night, despite the fact that they got together just to compete on the one night and never played together again! The journaling says: "In Year 12 at Indooroopilly State High School Nicolette was asked to be the vocalist for a band that called itself Der Freischutz. The band members joined together just for the school Battle of the Bands and included besides Nicolette, Declan McClure on bass (in the background here), Robbie Zosars on keyboard, Izac Chatterton on drums, Clare Thiele on soprano sax, Callan Davis on trombone, and Zoe Jacobs-Foreman on baritone sax. They performed three numbers--My Generation, Seven Nation Army, and I Feel Good. Nikki was so nervous since she hadn’t done a lot of singing since leaving choir after 9th grade, and had never fronted a band before, but she did an amazing job, proven by the fact that their band won first place! I didn’t get any photos of the event since I was too busy taking video, however I got this photo from a friend of hers that he took just as she was about to start singing."
