Emotions- They are always there, though sometimes we push them down and don't express them. I get emotional when I watch my beloved chick flicks. Pop in Sweet Home Alabama, Titanic, Sleepless in Seattle and watch me mist over. I'll admit, those Hallmark commercials tug at my heartstrings. Old videos of my son are especially heart wrenching. The strongest emotion we have, of course, is love and in February, our hearts and minds naturally turn to those we love. Valentine's Day is an opportunity for us to tell others how much we mean to them. For some, it is easier to say on this, the "appointed day" than other days of the year. |
| As scrapbookers we have the chance to tell
our family and friends how much we love them through our pages.
We can pour our feelings and emotions out into our journaling.
Our families are lucky to be able to read what we have to say.
When the words are spoken, it is wonderful, but it is also a fleeting
moment. Though we may remember it, we can't physically touch
it. Through the pages we create, our families literally get to
hold our love for them in their hands. The can look back and see
the words written there. They can feel the love anew each time
they look through our albums.
In my family, I'm the keeper. Not of things,
but of memories. I'm the one people call and say "when did
that happen?", because, chances are, it is in my scrapbook.
Recording our lives has become a passion for me. It feels like
a calling to me. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
This February, I challenge all of us to be
sure to put a little more emotion onto our pages. Don't feel silly
doing so. Your family will treasure your words. If you need a
little help in this area... be sure to visit the tutorial on Emotional
Journaling. It is up to you, the scrapbooker, to tell the
story of your family. And sometimes it's just easier to write
it than it is to say it.
Since it is a time of love- I'd like to say
how much I love DSP! It is such a terrific place that
I am honored to be a part of. We have the most wonderful
members here! We are so excited to see the site grow and flourish
as the craft of Digital Scrapbooking grows. We thank you all for
being such a valued part of our family.

Last month, Kristen started a new challenge for all of you (and ourselves as well!) We are all working together to get our digital scrapbooking lives in order! January was "burn baby burn" month and this month, its Element Time! As digital scrapper's, we all tend to download tons of kits and elements from many different sites, almost daily. It can be quite a challenge to get all these files organized so they are easily accessible when we need them. Every one of us will do this in a different way, so this month, not only are Kristen and I challenging you to get organized, we're challenging you all to HELP EACH OTHER! If you have a really good program or method for keeping things organized, please let us all know! For some tips and ideas on starting this month's challenge, visit the Scrapper's Challenge thread. Come on guys, lets get organized!

Can you list ten things? Pick your favorite person, place or thing and
scrap it!
You must use at least one DSP product, free or paid.
You must include ten things that you love about the subject of your
layout
You must post in this gallery.
Contest will run through Feb 28th. Winner will receive a DSP "Scraps
of...." CD of their choice from the store.

Heritage Album Challenge - Join Meryl Wednesdays from 10 - 11 p.m. EST. Each week you will work on a page for your Heritage Album. Meryl will use her kit, "As Time goes By" which is in the DSP store here but of course, feel free to use whatever you'd enjoy using. Come along with your photos and ideas, settle down with your beverage of choice - and let's have a great time & hopefully produce a great album!
February Lyrical Layout Challenge, monthly - Make your layouts sing! Every month I will post a link to a goodie bag that will contain the lyrics to a song. The song is to be used for inspiration - use all the lyrics, some or none, its up to you! This month's crop will be Thursday, Feb 3 at 9PM ET. Password for the goodies to be given out ONLY at the crop. Participants have the entire month to post then members will vote on the best layout. Winner will receive a free kit!
