Letter from Team Digital – Robyn Gough

The 1st of March brings Autumn in Australia and I am hoping it will get rid of the draining heat and bring some cooler weather to help boost the energy levels! Of course in the Northern hemisphere you are likely hoping the warmer weather will make its way to you soon. Our part of the world seems to have had a plethora of extreme conditions, with Bush Fires in Perth, Flash Flooding and River Flooding in Queensland and Victoria, a category 5 Cyclone in North Queensland and the terrible Earthquake in Christchurch. My heart goes out to all the families affected by these horrible conditions. We have been lucky enough to escape any ill effects from the flash flooding in Toowoomba which was seen around the world and nicknamed the ‘inland tsunami’. We did experience some flash flooding nearby where a bridge was washed out on the day of the Toowoomba flash flooding. The amount of water that came down in such a short period of time was unlike anything else I have ever seen.

With the amount of rain we had been having in the weeks prior it is no wonder that so much devastation occurred when there was nowhere else for such huge amounts of water to go. The ground was already sodden with water and so with the heavy downpours of more than 80ml in the space of an hour it headed right down the city centre as well as in torrents down the mountain range to the Lockyer Valley.

As the attention turns to Christchurch, the weather here seems to be settling down somewhat although it is still quite hot considering it is now Autumn. My heart goes out to those affected by the Christchurch earthquakes and I will be thinking of you all and hoping that you are all safe and sound in their wake.

Member Spotlight – Diane aka diturpin

    Diane

Visit her gallery and read more about Diane on the DSP Spotlight Page.

This month’s DSP Member Spotlight is someone who sees the silver lining in every cloud, she is funny, outspoken and positive… You will know Diane as diturpin.

Diane says she finds the inspiration for her beautiful layouts in her desire to document her family’s life together. “I like to capture the little things and hold on to them in my layouts,” she says. Diane says she usually matches the photo to a kit and then lets the kit guide the layout. “It’s kind of a balance. I will usually have photos I want to use, but the kit will determine the style or direction of the layout.”

Now that you have visited Diane’s gallery, and seen her style take part in the Scraplift the Spotlight Challenge for a chance to win a store coupon prize.

Featured Designer – Carole Harden

Here in Michigan, March sometimes feels like the longest month of the year! After weeks of unrelenting snow and cold, the charm of the wood stove has worn off, everyone is fidgety and crabby with cabin fever, and the days stretch on and on until Spring seems like a million miles away. So how do I beat the winter blahs? Well, one of my very favorite ways is by digital scrapbooking! If you're anything like me, you'll have a huge stockpile of photos waiting to be scrapped, and what better way to pass the dreary hours than by reliving pleasant memories of warm days and sunny skies? The snow is soon forgotten as I scroll through files of photos deciding which ones I want to scrap. Once I've made my selection, then the real fun begins. I love the whole process of picking just the right page kit to go with my photos, and if I get stuck for ideas, I know that the galleries here at DSP are always brimming with gorgeous layouts ready to inspire! Before long, I have a beautiful page ready to share with family and friends, and a great sense of accomplishment from getting another layout done. Of course, digital scrapbooking is a pleasant occupation all year round, but for me, March is the perfect month for it!

    Carole

By the way, another great boredom buster is to join in one of the many fun chats here at DSP. Every other Monday night at 8 PM (DSP time) I host a Quick Click Inspiration Chat. I'll give you a topic to get you inspired and a Quick Click to use for a fast and fabulous layout. If you've never used a Quick Click before, not to worry, there are instructions included with every template and I'm always happy to answer any questions you might have. I hope you'll join me for my next Quick Click Inspiration Chat; I can't wait to see you there!
