Letter
from Team Digital – Kathleen
I would not consider
myself a prolific scrapper. But, lately I have come to a stand-still,
and that just isn't the right answer! Yes, life is busy, but
documenting our life is important, not to mention fun and rewarding! I
am at the point where I have so many ideas and projects that I want to
do, I don't know where to start. So my challenge to myself for the
month of October is to do something! It doesn't have to be a perfectly
designed 100-page album, or a large canvas for my wall, or finishing a
baby book. These are all things on my to-do list. But, I just want to
create. Document. Share. Something little. Something fun. Something
that will make me smile. Something that will make my daughters smile.
The layout to the right is a few years old, but it is a very good
reminder of what drew me to this creative outlet in the first place.
There are so many stories in our daily life that are worth telling. I
enjoy them today, and I know my daughters will enjoy them in the
future. I am the family storyteller, and it is a job that I am honored
to have.
So, I will be looking to all my friends at DSP for inspiration. Finding
something I love - a photo, a kit, a poem. I will be creative. I will
finish what I start! It doesn't need to be perfect, or a big project,
it just needs to be. I can't wait to see what I create, and what you
create!

Spotlight – Teri aka domino44
This
month’s DSP Member Spotlight Teri, better known as
domino44. Teri
is someone who has been a member of DSP
since 2004, and she says DSP is where she “lives”.
You get a sense of this
lady’s
character and sense of humor when you ask her to describe herself, and
she replies that she would say she is “fun”, but
that “everyone else would probably say strange!”
She describes her scrapping style as “eclectic”.
Teri says “there is so much out there to draw inspiration
from. Kind of like Lay's potato chips...you can't do just
one!”
She mostly begins her
layouts by drawing
inspiration from a kit she has chosen saying that the kit will
“just speak to you” and say: "Oh this would be
great for those pictures you took the other day!”
Teri’s favorite is her layout
“Letter to my
Daughter”.
“It was
the hardest Layout I have ever done, but it started the healing
process,” she says.
Teri, thank you for sharing your talent with us as the DSP Member
Spotlight for October, and thank you for calling DSP home for all these
years.
Be inspired by
Teri’s
Gallery, read more about her
HERE
then share the inspiration by taking part in the
Scraplift
the Spotlight challenge for your
chance to win a DSP store
coupon.

The
Consistent Scrapper Challenge
I
love
the changing of the seasons. I live in
the
northwestern part of the United States, so our seasons are marked by
definite
changes every year. It seems like as soon as I get tired of one season,
a new
one comes along to inspire me. I love the fresh, newness of spring, the
warmth
and fun of summer, the colors and crisp temperatures of fall and the
holidays
of winter.
Winter in my part of
the world tends to be rainy and dark, so the holidays are the part we
enjoy!
I
also enjoy change in
other parts of my
life,
such as my scrapping and photography world. I like to try new styles
and
techniques and I love to photograph new things. I recently finished a
scrapbook
about my husband's grandma. I loved the heritage photos and the
restoration and
research that went into putting together the treasured family pictures
and
diary entries. I have many more boxes of photos of other family
ancestors to
process and put into a form that my children and grandchildren will
enjoy, but
I needed to go a different direction for awhile first.
Since
I had recently
repainted my living
room,
and refused to rehang the boring photos that have hung on those walls
for 10
years, I decided to find some of my thousands of more recent pictures
that might
just work for my walls. This led to a season of learning more about
blending
modes and adding texture to photos, to create a look that expressed
what I
wanted for each picture. I have three of my favorites on my wall now
and room
for a couple more, when I find the right ones.
My
next project will be
to finish up the
2010
yearly scrapbooks for my granddaughters. Again, a shift in emphasis and
style.
For
me, variety and
change in my photography and in my scrapping and
design, is important to keeping it fresh and enjoyable. Are you ready
for some inspiration and change? Try something new for awhile!
