Member Spotlight Questions – Mandy a.k.a Scrapping4Him
DSP - How long have you been scrapping?
Mandy - I attempted traditional paper scrapping in late 2006 and never even finished the first couple pages I tried to compose. I quickly realized this was not for me and went in search for something digital and rediscovered DSP in early 2007 (I had previously found DSP in 2004 for a non-scrapping project). I was so excited because I am a computer geek (yes I will admit that for the world to know) and after figuring out the software I initially bought, I finally got up the nerve to post my first LO to the gallery in April 2007. The rest is history.
DSP - What do you like best about digital scrapbooking?
Mandy - Since 99.9% of my LOs go through a complete morphosis, I would have been seriously broke had traditional scrapping actually clicked for me. So I love the complete flexibility of digital plus the portability and of course no mess! My husband loves it too!
DSP - What drew you to this site?
Mandy - The freebies - I'll admit it, yep the freebies drew me in first. But then I got to know some of the awesome ladies here and realized how much everyone cared about each other and that kept me coming back. Like many others, I tried other sites during my early time at DSP but they could never hold a candle to the community nor the quality of the designs.
DSP - Do you have a favorite challenge here at DSP?
Mandy - No I honestly don't have a favorite because I love them all. They each have their own uniqueness that draws me in.
DSP - What is your most "off the wall" layout?
Mandy - I probably would have to say my 'Your Imagination Never Stops' LO (http://www.digitalscrapbookplace.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=313957&ppuser=5602) It at first seemed sort of dark and gothic to me, not exactly a style one would choose to scrap a 4 year old, but then it grew on me and now I love it.
DSP - Do you ever experience "scrappers block", and if so how do you overcome
it?
Mandy - I do but usually it only last a couple of days, maybe a week at most. Challenges usually draw me back but if that doesn't work going shopping in the DSP store helps tremendously and when all else fails I will grab my camera and go take some photos.
DSP - What is your favorite thing to scrap about?
Mandy - My daughter Megan. She's the joy of my life and the camera loves her. My 2nd favorite is nature - I love the deep thoughts that come about when scrapping the photos I take of nature.
DSP - If you were a scrapbook element, what would you be?
Mandy - Oh man - that's so hard! I probably would choose to be some type of foliage - I love foliage on a page. In my alter-ego life though, I'd probably be a layer mask. They are so versatile and I love the looks you get when used with your photos and papers.
DSP - What part of the site do you spend the most time in, other than your gallery?
Mandy - LOL well I must sheepishly admit probably the store but second to that it would have to be the designer challenge threads.
DSP - What other hobbies or activities do you enjoy other than scrapping?
Mandy - reading, photography, dinners out with friends, amusement parks.
DSP - Is there anything else you would like to share with us?
Mandy - I also love to mentor DSP newbies. Sharing my love of digi-scrapping is a passion that continues to grow with each new mentoring session I sign up for. Oh and I LOVE DSP - what else is left to say!!!
