DSU220 Photoshop Brushes Syllabus

This class is set up for beginners and those with a little more experience with photoshop.
It is compatible with 7.0 or CS. Tutorials and homework can be as simple or as detailed
as needed for each student.

 

Lesson 1

We will learn about the brushes palette first in this lesson, including terminology, views, access, brush presets, and brush tip shape options. There are two tutorials in this lesson: Aging a photo with brushes, and creating realistic torn paper with brushes.

Lesson 2

In this lesson, we will cover the rest of the brushes palette options. This includes a detailed look at Shape Dynamics, Scattering, Texture, Dual Brush, Color Dynamics, and Other Dynmics. For homework we'll reate some custom papers for your upcoming Spring layouts using the options in the brushes palette and share them in the gallery.

Lesson 3

In Lesson 3 we will learn to make custom brushes. We'll make one brush by painting, and others from images. We'll also make a custom brush using text. Then we'll learn how to find and download brushes from the Internet.

Lesson 4

In lesson 4 we will use brushes to make scrapbook elements, including fibers and grungy backgrounds We will also use the healing brush and create a subject focus. Our final tutorial will be a photo montage.
