Comic Book Look – Halftone Pattern
by Claudia Watkins
Sometimes it is cool to make your photo look a bit different to add a bit of fun to your layout. In PS there are some filters that with just a click of a button will change your photo radically. One of them is the Halftone Pattern that will make your photo look like those old newspapers and comic books photos.
I have this photo that I thought I could do a thing or two to it.

First thing is to decide on what colour you will want the photo to be because this filter changes the photo to just 2 colours.
So set your Foreground colour and background colour to the ones you want. Remembering that the foreground colour will be the main one.
I set mine to black for foreground and white for background.
Now go to Filters and inside the Sketch folder you will find Halftone Pattern.
Another window will open and you will see this:

On the right side you have the settings,
Size: it changes the size of the pattern applied.
Contrast: higher makes the background brighter giving a pop art feel to the photo.
Pattern Type: you have 3 different patterns: dots, circle and lines.
Here are some samples of what you can achieve.
Different colours:

Play around with the settings and colours and you will be amazed at what you can get and then make a llayout that will be very different from the usual ones.
