Here is an easy way to add a mat to your photo or shape in Digital Image Pro.
Open up your background paper. Add the shape you want your photo
to be in. In this example I am using the rounded corner rectangle.

Click and drag on the corners and sides to make the shape you want
to crop your photo into.
With your shape layer selected (highlighted in blue in the stake)
duplicate this new shape by hitting Control and D at the same time.
This is what the stack should look like now.
With your top shape selected, click on Effects >fill with texture
or color.

Open a picture
Browse for the photo you would like to use and click on it. You
can at this point. Resize or move the photo inside the shape to
get it like you want it.

When you have it like you want it click on done. This message will
appear. Click OK.

Now we can mat our cropped photo.
Click to select the second shape in your stack. (this turns it
blue).

Move it to the top of the stack by dragging it up.
Drag out the corner to make it bigger and to maintain the ratio
of size.

You can always move it below the photo to see if this is the size
of mat you want.
When finished resizing, then select your new mat by clicking on
the layer in the stack. (highlight it blue).
Repeat the same steps above by clicking of Effects > fill with
texture or color. But this time the picture you select with be a
background paper. Browse for your paper and click OK.

Again, you can move around your background paper and resize it
at this point. When you have it like you want it click on done.
You now have a matted photo. Add a drop shadow and you are ready
to finish your layout. That was easy.

Crop your photo into a shape. For example I will be working with
an image cropped into a rounded corner.
