Tutorial: Doodle Dandy Fun

You will need the following to complete this fun tutorial:

• Scanner
• Black markers – medium tip
• White paper


Take your black marker and do some doodling……pretty designs/pictures/or your signature on a plain white piece of paper. Scan and save to a file.


Open up your scanned doodle file.

On the Stack, click your doodle file to select.
If you can’t see the stack click view>stack

On the toolbar, click the Magic Wand Tool Button
Click on the area you wish to select (in our case the black marker writing)

If you can’t see the options palette, click the Selection button on the workspace toolbar.

Deselect the Contiguous option .Choose a tolerance level of 50. (You may have to have a play here depending on your black markers thickness.)


With your doodles selected by your magic wand
Click Edit>Copy
Edit>Paste (paste onto a new blank canvas)
Save your doodle with a transparent background as a PNG.



Now you’re ready to experiment with different marker colors and thickness.

Effects>fill with texture or color>color gradient

Effects>fill with texture>Picture (background paper)
Effects>shadow>soft


Now you are ready to have some Doodle Dandy fun!!!
