There are two major keys in creating a digital scrapbook page
and making it look hand-scrapped.
1. The CORRECT use of shadows
2. Texture.
Here
are some easy to follow tips for using shadows and textures on
your page.
1.
Put shadows on almost EVERYTHING!!!!! Anything that would be adhered
to a piece of paper on a hand-scrapped page needs to have a shadow.
2.
Put small shadows (little distance with little size) for thing
close to the page. For example, photos and photo-mats.
3.
Things further from the page will have a larger shadow. For example,
elements such as fibers and buttons, etc.

4.
Do not add shadows to fonts that would be printed on a piece of
paper on a hand-scrapped page; such as a journal box.

5.
Do add shadows to fonts if you want them to look like di-cuts
or stickers.

6.
Add a little bit of texture to your papers to make them look less
flat. Real paper has a little bit of texture. Digital paper should
too. For texture I like to add a little bit of noise, or maybe
a canvas or burlap texture. Keep it subtle.

Add a slight transparent pattern to vellum. Just like paper isn’t
“flat” neither is vellum. It has light and dark spots.
If
you follow these easy steps, your pages will look hand-scrapped
too! Happy Scrapping!
