Tutorial: Creating Chalked Edges in Photoshop

Creating a Chalked Edge Using Photoshops Layer Styles
By Lauren Bavin

Creating a chalked edge look is very easy in Photoshop and you dont need any fancy filters to do it. I am going to add my chalked edges to a tag to give it a worn look.
1 Make sure the item you are chalking is on a layer all by itself and have your layer palette window open (windows- layers).
2 Click on the little button that looks like an "f".

3 Select the INNER GLOW option- a new menu will appear.
4 Play with the settings I have made here and choose what ever colour you wish your chalking to be - you can play with the noise and opacity settings to get the desired effect - the main thing to remember is to make sure edge is selected rather than center- The choke and size will adjust the thickness of the shading

And here is the final result - easy wasnt it?!?!

In Photoshop Elements you do not have the (f) symbol, but you do have an inner glow.
