Creating Faux Rick Rack in PS CS2

1.       Start with creating a new document with the following parameters:

2.       Choose the rectangular Marquee Tool from the toolbar

3.       Make the selection as shown:

4.       Now go to the foreground color palette and set the foreground color according to following settings:

5.       Now pick the Paint Bucket Tool

and fill the selected area with the foreground color.

6.       Now you have a plain pink ribbon. Go Filters>Texture>Texturizer. Make the following changes in the settings

7.       Now it’s just the time to make our textured ribbon wavy to like rick rack ribbon. Go Filters>Distort>Wave. Adjust the settings as shown

Here’s what we have now

8.       Just for a finishing touch let’s add some relief to our rick-rack. Go Layer>Layer Style>Bevel and Emboss. Adjust the settings as shown

To make the ribbon look more realistic click on the Shadow Mode palette below the window and select the color as follows:

8.       Now enjoy your very own rick rack

You can add shadows to it and use it in your digital layouts.
