Tutorial: Importing
Layer Styles in PS (and Elements)
By Kelly Meaux
The use of styles in PS or PSE can greatly add
to the realistic look of your elements. You can create your own,
but it’s much easier to get ready-made styles online. Once
you download them, you can paste them in the appropriate folder
& your creativity is limitless!!!
Here are some easy steps for importing your new
styles:
1) Copy a style (.asl file) from an online or
external source.
2) Locate your “styles” folder…usually found
in PROGRAM FILES/ADOBE/PHOTOSHOP/PRESETS/STYLES
3) Paste the .asl file in the STYLES folder
4) Open PS and your new style is ready to go
5) Create a new document & you can click on the “Layer
Styles” palette to use your new style
Most style attributes can be altered individually.
There are many styles that you can download that will work for
both PS & PSE. If you want some great styles to experiment
with check out Adobe Studio Exchange online.
Once you get some, be sure to create a layout
& post in the gallery for all to see!!!
