This tutorial was written for version X, but should work with
most other versions of PSP.
Would you like to make your own textures for your scrapbook layouts?
Look around you, there are so many beautiful textures right at
your fingertips! It is much easier than you may think!
First grab your camera. Take a photo of your sidewalk, a wall
of your house, a pattern on your couch, the tile on your bathroom
floor. Just find anything with texture and take a picture.
Then upload your photos onto your computer and open up one of
them in PSP. Here is a view of one of my photos before any editing
or cropping:

We now need to crop our image into a square. Pick any area of
the photo that you like and crop it into a square.

We now need to use our seamless tiling tool in order to create
smooth edges when using our texture to fill an area.
Choose Effects>Image Effects>Seamless Tiling
For this example I used the following:
Tiling Method-Corner
Direction-Bidirectional
Settings- Horizontal Offset %- 0%
Vertical Offset %- 0%
Transition %- 100%
Corner Style- Linear
We also need to change our colored photo to black and white.
Choose Effects>Photo Effects>Black and White Film and make
sure your filter color is set to- None.
Almost done! Let's resize our texture and save it into our textures
folder. I usually save my textures at a size of 300px X 300px.
Choose Image>Resize and set your pixel dimension to 300px
Width X 300px Height.
To save your image to use as a texture, chose File>Save As
Save as a bitmap (.bmp) and put it into My Documents>My PSP
Files>Textures.
Restart your program and you should be able to use your new texture
to create great new textures and effects on your scrapbooking
layouts! Good luck and have fun!
