Creating a Custom Shape

by Nicole Young

Paint Shop Pro comes with some awesome preset shapes: hearts, arrows, stars, etc.    You can also create your own vector shapes and save them as presets, to use again and again.  This will allow you to change the stroke, color, size, and pattern of any vector shape.

In this tutorial we will be creating a simple vector star using the pen tool.

1.       Open a 2400x2400ppi image

2.       Choose a solid color fill and no stroke color

3.       Choose the pen tool from your toolbar

4.       Create any custom shape you would like (in this example I created a simple abstract star)

5.       Choose File>Export>Shape (or Preset Shape)

6.       Enter a file name: this will be whatever you want to call your shape

Now your shape will be part of the drop down menu when you want to use custom shapes.  You can use it with whatever fills, stroke, size and pattern you choose.
