Tutorial: Out of the box photos in Paint Shop Pro 8.1
by Valeri Brumfield

For intermediate/advanced users

Want your photos to POP? Its pretty easy using Paint Shop Pro!
The photo on the right is a great photo, but with just a few easy steps in PSP you can make the action come right out to you!

Make a copy of the photo (Shift + D) and cute the object out of the photo using the lasso tool. I use smart edge for the first pass. The stray pixels can be cleaned up laster using "point to point".
See the tutorial on extracting backgrounds in PSP.

Now you have an image that you can overlay onto the photo as shown below.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crop the photo to just the lower section. Add a border to give the photo the appearance of a frame. Add the object that you cut out to the new photo that you have just created. Place the object right over the other one so that they line up. Now you can use your photo on a layout to give it that extra POP! See the final version below.

Disclaimer: This tutorial is appropriate for itermediate to advanced PSP users, and it does assume that you have a basic understanding of the tools used in PSP. We have great beginner classes if you need to learn more about the tools used in PSP.
