Creating realistic text on a paper-style layout

Creating a realistic paper style layout with digital scrapbooking is a lot easier than you may think! I will give you some tips and ideas that will help you create those realistic pages!

Let's practice…
Here is an example of text that is layered inappropriately in a layout:

Notice how the text is crossing over multiple layers of elements in the picture.
You would not be able to do this if you were creating a paper scrapbooked page. The text should not cross over elements and shadows.

There are a few things we can do to achieve a more realistic look:
Space the text so that it falls onto areas that could be written on in a paper scrapbook.
Make sure you do not write on top of brads, buttons, ribbons, etc.
Place your text (raster) layer under any elements that might cover the text, such as ribbons, folds, edges.

Notice now that the text has been placed on only one layer of paper and that it is on a layer below the ribbon. This is much more realistic!

Other ideas for a more realistic look:
Use your mesh warp or warp brush to move the text along the curves of the element that you are writing on.

Use your eraser brush on the text for a grungy, worn look.

Now you can create some beautiful, realistic paper-style pages all your own!!! Have fun!!!
